We had a relatively short engagement. During the time of wedding planning, I was in my last semester of college preparing for graduation, and had just started an internship. For the first while, I was so distracted by these other things that I kept forgetting that I was engaged. I kept forgetting that my wedding was on it's way! I totally put the whole wedding thing in the back seat, which made any planning totally miserable. I was so stressed about everything else going on, I really wasn't enjoying it at all!
Then one day I just decided I was going to enjoy it. I was going to enjoy being engaged, and wedding planning whether I liked it or not! Once I changed my attitude and made it a little more of a priority, I was happier and less stressed. And I really started to love it!
If you've done this whole wedding planning thing you may know what I'm talking about when I say it didn't feel real AT ALL. I was waiting for it to click for so long! I just couldn't wrap my mind around the fact that I was getting MARRIED. The whole thing was honestly a whirlwind, and everything happened so fast. But it had to! We only had 2 months! The moment it really set in is when we took engagements.
Don't get me wrong, I loved taking engagements. I loved getting dressed up all cute and putting on a pretty good amount of makeup. But I'm not going to pretend it wasn't stressful. The night before we took our engagements, you should've seen my room. There were 3 different people's closets laying out on my floor, with 6 people matching up outfit ideas. I kid you not it was complete chaos. You'd think we'd be able to put a couple outfits together right? Wrong. I had no idea how complicated it was! In the end everything turned out good, and we had 3 outfits that we thought wouldn't make us look like total slobs.
I'll tell you one thing. Claire is amazing. We were so comfortable with her the whole time, and she was so so incredibly nice! If you're looking for a photographer, she's your girl.
One thing I also loved was the location. It's obvious that me and Casey love the woods. The location we took our engagements was a place up Provo Canyon that we had discovered earlier that week. It was absolutely gorgeous. It just felt right and comfortable.
Someday I'll show you the outtakes (aka 5 billion pictures of me and Casey laughing our heads off or sticking our tongues out at each other). It's a miracle Claire was able to get any pictures of us not goofing off. We were having so much fun the whole time!
Brooke, you are to die for. I am drooling over every single one!! xoxox

ReplyDeleteHi this is so random and probably creep, but I am getting married in November, and your third outfit, the pleated ivory skirt with the blush blouse is exactly what I'm looking for my bridesmaids to wear. Do you mind telling me where you got the outfit from??! Thanks so much
ReplyDeleteHey! haha not creepy. I got the skirt at Nordstrom, and the shirt is Lush brand. I don't know where it's from because I got it from a friend :) Good luck!
