Alright, time to put you out of your misery with my last of the Wedding Highlights series. And with the best part too - The Reception.

When planning my reception, it was really important to me that it didn't feel like a traditional reception, but more like a really big garden party. It was important to me to have it outside, because I love outside! If it were possible, I would've had it in the middle of the woods. That wasn't realistic, so we decided to do it in the middle of an orchard!

I wanted the night to be an awesome experience not only for me and my family, but for everyone who came. I wanted it to feel relaxed, and for everyone to have a good time. I hear about so many wedding receptions where the bride and groom just feel stressed to the max the entire night, and don't even get to enjoy it! I decided that we were putting so much time and effort into planning something cool, we were going to enjoy it. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like it was pretty good time.

Flowers
If you've read the post on Cake, you probably noted that I wasn't too stoked about some of the very unwanted flowers that mysteriously appeared everywhere on my wedding day. But other than detail, I was 100% happy. The best thing about it? The flowers only cost $300. Giant bouquet and everything! Let me tell you how this worked. What we did was order a bunch of different flowers that I liked, then arranged them ourselves. And by 'arrange' I just mean group a few together and put them in a vintage vase. Boom.








The Setup
Because we were in an Orchard, we had to bring in all the furniture and lights. We rented some bistro lights from a local dealer, and brought these huge amazing wooden tables from Native Events. We also got our dance floor from them. Both were amazing decisions. The other furniture was borrowed, bought from thrift stores, vintage stores, Craigslist, and essentially gathered from every corner of the used up furniture universe. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It felt so relaxed, and really just turned out to be a place I wanted to hang out.









The Party
There's not much more to say. May 17, 2014 was the best day of my life, and the night made it even better. Being surrounded by people who love me made the night perfect, no matter what the details were. It was an awesome party, and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.
