A New Year

The beginning of a new year is always good time, in my opinion, to start fresh and set some new goals or milestones to reach within the new year. I even think it's a great idea to set less structured goals for things in your life that you maybe just wanna change.

Two years ago my new year's resolution was to do something every single week that I had never done before. I wish so badly that I had better documented that year of my life because it changed me. Because of that goal, I did things I never thought I could do, I met incredible people I would not have met otherwise, and I honestly had the most adventurous year of my life.

Last year I set some 'serious goals.' By that I mean I set some more generic goals that I'd check in with weekly. I set them in 4 categories: Financial, Spiritual, Personal, People. It was a great year and I made some improvements. Checking in weekly helped a lot too.

This year I'm not so much setting year-long goals, but I've got something I want to do.

1. Go on a date with Casey once a week.
Even though we both live in Provo, it feels like we hardly see each other. We're both so busy with school and work that it's hard to spend a good amount of time together. We watch a lot of SportsCenter. Even though winter makes us both a little miserable, I think it's safe to say dating each other makes us both happy.

2. Travel somewhere on my bucketlist.
My bucketlist is pretty much just to visit all the Wonders of the World. Since they keep changing, it's a little hard to make list of all the places. I haven't figured out exactly where I want to go this year, but right now I've got a lot of options and I could pretty much just point anywhere on a map and go. I'll keep you posted on that one.

3. Break up with electronics.
Don't get too excited, I'm not about to tell you I'm throwing away all my Apple gear and deleting all my social media accounts. I'm actually the last person you can expect that from. I read this article the other week and I thought it was really cool. I don't think the internet is evil, or social media will end all of us. It's great! I love it! But I believe there's a right time and place to be on your phone...ipad...macbook...whatever. And I'm gonna try to make sure I'm not choosing my 'whatever' over real humans.

So that's what I've got in store this year, at least for now. I'd love to hear what everyone else is doing, or any suggestions of great goals resolutions to join in on!

Happy New Year!
